How it works
- 1
Load a pattern
Try the example to see a flat back, vertical walls, drafted walls, and an undercut.
- 2
Set the pull
Choose an axis, your minimum angle, and a flat-back or split pattern.
- 3
Review the map
Orbit the model and compare area shares. Save the draft image or the report.
- Area shares
- The legend weights each class by triangle area, so fine tessellation does not dominate the result.
- Local angles
- This checks face normals. It does not detect every trapped face or prove that a mold will release.
- Foundry review
- Casting numbers are estimates. Ask your alloy supplier or investment maker for pour temperatures and burnout schedules.
Questions
What counts as an undercut?
A face with negative draft relative to the selected pull direction. A flat face on the lowest plane is treated as the parting face.
How does split mode work?
The split height is measured up from the lowest point of the model along the pull direction. Faces above it use the selected pull direction. Faces below it use the opposite direction. Triangles that cross the split are classified by their center, and faces lying flat on the split plane count as parting faces.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser with the JavaScript on this page. Your data never leaves your computer, and nothing is kept after you close the tab.
Quoting castings or patterns every week?
I build quoting tools that read a customer's CAD file, work out weight and metal cost, and price the job automatically.
