How it works
- 1
Paste JSON or choose a file
Lists of objects, API responses with the records under a key like data or results, and JSON Lines files all work.
- 2
Check the records and columns
If the file has more than one list, pick the one that holds the rows you want. Each record becomes a row and each field becomes a column.
- 3
Download the CSV
The preview shows the first 100 rows. The download has all of them.
- Nested objects
- Separate columns turns {"contact": {"email": "..."}} into a contact.email column. Keeping JSON puts the whole object in one cell, which helps when another system will read it back.
- Lists
- Joining puts tags like commercial and priority in one cell as "commercial; priority". Separate columns gives each position its own column. Lists of objects are kept as JSON unless you choose separate columns.
- Long numbers
- Order and account IDs longer than 15 digits are kept digit for digit in browsers that support it. If yours can't, the result tells you to check those columns.
Questions
Why do some columns look wrong when I open the CSV in Excel?
Excel guesses each column's type as it opens a CSV. It drops leading zeros from values like ZIP codes and shows long IDs in scientific notation. Import the file with Data > From Text/CSV and set those columns to Text to keep them as they are.
Can it convert JSON Lines?
Yes. If the input has one JSON object per line, each line becomes a row.
How big a file can it handle?
Up to 50 MB. Most computers handle that in a few seconds. If you convert files that size on a regular schedule, a small automated job is usually the better fit.
Is my file uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs in your browser with the JavaScript on this page. Your data never leaves your computer, and nothing is kept after you close the tab.
Converting the same export every week?
I connect APIs, spreadsheets, and business apps so data moves on its own, with checks for the records that don't fit. Tell me where the file comes from and where it needs to go.
