How it works

  1. 1

    Choose, drop, or paste images

Pick one image or many. HEIC, AVIF, WebP, PNG, and JPG all work, so a mixed folder is fine.

  2. 2

Pick the format, quality, and size

JPG suits photos, PNG keeps transparency and every pixel, and WebP makes the smallest files. A smaller size makes uploads faster.

  3. 3

    Download

One image downloads on its own. Several download together as a ZIP, keeping their original names.

Quality
Applies to JPG and WebP. At 90% it's hard to tell from the original. Lower values make smaller files with softer detail.
Size
Shrinks each image until its longest side fits, keeping its shape. Images that are already smaller stay as they are.
Photo details
Converting makes a fresh copy of the pixels, so location, camera, and date details from the original aren't carried over.

Questions

Why are my iPhone photos HEIC?

iPhones save photos as HEIC because it takes less space than JPG at the same quality. Windows, many websites, and older apps can't open it, so JPG is still the safe choice for sharing.

Should I choose PNG or JPG?

PNG keeps every pixel exactly but makes files several times larger than JPG. Use PNG for editing and design work, and JPG for sharing, email, and websites.

How many images can I convert at once?

There's no set limit, and each image can be up to 50 MB. Images convert one at a time, so a big batch takes a while, and very large batches are limited by your computer's memory. Split a huge folder into a few batches if the page slows down.

Are my photos uploaded anywhere?

No. Converting happens in your browser. Your photos never leave your device, and nothing is kept after you close the tab.

Preparing product photos by hand?

I set up pipelines that convert, resize, rename, and upload images on their own, from your phone or camera folder straight to your store, catalog, or website.

Source code and license

HEIC photos are decoded with libheif, which is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public License v3. It ships as a separate file that loads only for HEIC photos and can be replaced, and its source is linked here. The rest of the page uses the browser's own image support.
